Degree Programs

Currently Bachelor of Arts degree programs in Bible and Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Elementary Education, Christian Ministry, and Management and Ethics are offered through JWC Online.   In addition students may also pursue an Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Theology degree, or one of our new Certificates.

The college offers a strong schedule of courses in such a cycle that all courses necessary for these degrees are offered in a two-year rotation.  Students must have adequate computer equipment and sufficient skills to be able to receive instruction through this medium.  These programs have the equivalent curricula to the on-campus programs and has the benefit of convenience.

1.  The Bible/Theology major is designed to provide a quality collegiate-level study of the scripture, theology, and related fields.  As such, it furnishes a solid foundation for many fields of Christian ministries as well as for post-baccalaureate studies in the same or related fields.

2.  The Christian Ministry major provides foundational preparation for a variety of educational ministries within the church as well as with a variety of independent ministry organizations (i.e. Young Life, Child Evangelism Fellowship, Focus on the Family, Campus Crusade for Christ, etc.).  Students in this major pursue jobs as Christian Education Directors, Youth Pastors, Family and Children’s Pastors, and more.

3.  The Pastoral Ministry  major is designed to equip the student who has the calling of God with the skills necessary to facilitate an effective ministry in the local church.  The major is dedicated to the task of providing biblical and theological instruction with practical application for church and church-related leadership roles.

4.  The Elementary Christian School Teacher Education major is designed to equip the student with the skills necessary to prepare him/her to be a qualified teacher, grounded with a Christian philosophy of education, for Christian schools in the United States and abroad.

5.  The Management & Ethics major allows professional adults with two or more years of college to return and finish their BA degree. Classes are taught in a seminar style that integrates prior learning, current research and contemporary business experiences. The major is intended to equip middle managers with leadership skills from an ethical platform based on Christian absolutes.

6.  The Associate of Arts in Religious Studies is for those students who wish to benefit from a Bible college environment, but who may want to transfer to another college after two years to meet their own specific educational goals.  The the two-year Associate of Arts degree program is an entry level degree.

7.  The Bachelor of Theology Degree offers the Bible College graduate the opportunity for additional specialization that is not always available with a BA degree.

8.  The Certificate Programs are designed to provide both laypersons and professional ministers with additional knowledge and set of skills to assist the student in his or her chosen area of ministry.

General Education Requirements
The General Education Division at John Wesley College provides support to all majors offered by the College.  Course offerings, not an end in themselves, provide a solid foundation in a variety of areas that the servant of God may be well equipped to every good work. This division provides the basis for the Associate of Arts degree for those students who desire to benefit from a Bible college environment, but who need to transfer to another college after two years to meet their own specific educational goals.

All online students must complete the Online Orientation class durring or before their first online session.  Online students will be limited to one additional online course in their very first online session.  No student may take more than two online classes in one session without permission of the Online Coordinator.
